Teaching with BMS

Do impactful work inside a system that supports you.

Teaching at BMS means working in small, human-scale classes with students who benefit from structure, warmth, and personalization.

You will not be teaching alone. BMS gives teachers the system around the work: Brillow, Toddle, clear protocols, standard routines, curriculum support, coaching, assistant principals, deans, MTSS, parent support, substitutes, and a strong teacher community.

Our model is built for educators who are prepared, digitally confident, student-centered, and comfortable using a clear school system.

This is a good fit for teachers who want to get better at supporting high-need students who need personalized support, without having to build processes and curricula from scratch.

BMS Certificate Program

Required onboarding for every BMS teacher

Every BMS teacher completes the BMS Certificate before teaching live classes.

The certificate is a practical professional training credential built around the real work of teaching at BMS. It helps teachers learn our specialized online microschool model day by day — from live-class routines and curriculum tools to mastery checks, family communication, student support, and the systems that make high-need online learning work.

It also teaches the BMS system: how to personalize without chaos, keep routines consistent, use protocols well, and know when to involve assistant principals, deans, MTSS, parent support, or school leadership.

The goal is simple. Teachers should feel prepared. Students should feel supported. Classes should run with warmth, structure, and steady academic expectations.

Why this matters

Why this certificate matters

The BMS Certificate is a practical professional training credential built around the Brilliant Learning System: our approach to small live online classes, mastery-based learning, student support, clear routines, strong tools, and personalized pathways.

It helps teachers learn how to teach high-need students online inside a real school system. You will learn how to personalize without chaos, use edtech with purpose, run structured live classes, support students who learn differently, and work as part of a coordinated academic team.

For selected BMS candidates, the certificate is the final onboarding step before joining the faculty pool. For independent candidates, it provides structured training in modern online instruction, mastery-based learning, UDL, digital classroom systems, and practical student support.

The BMS Certificate is not a state teaching license and does not replace state certification. It confirms that you have completed BMS training in the systems, routines, tools, and expectations used in our accredited online microschool model.

Two platforms, one workflow — Toddle handles the relationship layer, Brillow powers the daily learning experience, and Performance Tasks live in both.

The Brillow Platform

The daily instructional engine behind every BMS class

Brillow brings curriculum, assessments, performance tasks, badge tracking, and student progress into one workflow, helping teachers run small live classes with more structure and less friction.

Purpose-built for the BMS model, it gives teachers a clearer daily workspace and gives students an interactive learning experience that feels organized, engaging, and easy to follow.

All-in-One Learning Hub

Live classroom, gradebook, attendance, assignments, and parent comms — every tool under one elegant roof.

Seamless Integration

Curriculum, assessments, and student data flow together so nothing falls through the cracks.

Embedded Learning

Lessons, videos, and interactive content live inside the platform — students never have to tab away.

Unique Interactive Atmosphere

Engagement tools that turn the digital classroom into a living, breathing community space.

Pathways

Two pathways into the BMS Certificate

There are two ways to complete the BMS Certificate.

Both teach the same practical system: how to support high-need students through small live classes, clear routines, strong tools, and personalized pathways.

One pathway is for selected BMS teaching candidates. The other is for educators completing the credential independently.

Faculty Candidate Pathway

Cost: Free for selected BMS candidates

This pathway is for educators applying to teach at Brilliant Microschools.

The BMS Certificate normally costs $300. BMS covers that cost for selected candidates because the training is required before teaching live classes with us.

Candidates must first pass our vetting process:

Application → Video presentation → Teaching assessment → Role play with our principals

The free certificate is offered only after this vetting process.

Completing the certificate is the final training step before joining the BMS faculty pool. Certified candidates may begin with substitute, co-teaching, or assigned microschool teaching opportunities based on school needs.

Independent Pathway

Cost: $300

This pathway is for educators who are not applying for a BMS teaching role but want to complete the training independently.

The cost is $300.

Independent candidates learn the same BMS system. They learn how to teach small online classes, use standard routines, support high-need students, work with mastery-based learning, and use the tools that hold the model together.

They are not entering the BMS hiring process. Completion of the certificate does not guarantee a teaching role at Brilliant Microschools.

Important

Credential, not licensure

The BMS Certificate is a professional training credential from Brilliant Microschools.

It confirms that an educator has completed training in our online microschool model, including the Teacher Handbook, Brillow, Toddle, curriculum routines, EduProtocols, mastery-based learning, student support expectations, and BMS communication standards.

The certificate is designed around the students we serve and the systems teachers use every day.

It is not a state teaching license. It does not replace state certification.

Teachers joining Brilliant Microschools must already hold a valid, current teaching certification.
